The oldest documented records of Herdade de Pegos Claros, also known as Sesmarias de Pegos Claros, date from 1920. Pegos Claros benefits from a Mediterranean climate with a clear Atlantic influence, characteristic of the Setúbal Peninsula.
Pegos Claros wines represent the maximum expression of a unique terroir: old Castelão vines, without irrigation, in the sands of Palmela.
Centennial vineyards with low yields that bring a high aromatic richness and concentration to the wines. In the words of Bernardo Cabral, the estate’s winemaker, “the age of the vineyards in these sandy soils gives Pegos Claros wines an unparalleled body and personality.”
